I have been hypnotized twice before, both for about an hour.

One time, I was hypnotized by being given relaxing music to listen to while the hypnotist told me I was being relaxed into a trance in the most soothing way he could. This time, I was only placed in a light trance. I was not as aware of my surroundings as I would be if I was awake and I was somewhat focused on the hypnotist and his commands.

The second time, I stared into a hypnotic spiral while being told in a very soothing and relaxing voice that I was slipping into a trance. This time, I was hypnotized more deeply. It was like falling asleep, but still being aware of the hypnotist and what he's saying. I was far less aware of my other surroundings this time and I lost any sense of time (the 1 hour felt like 15 minutes to me). Since I was more deeply hypnotized, I found the hypnotist's commands a bit more irresistable and it was like even if my mind said no, my body would still obey.

Both times, especially the time I was deeply hypnotized, it felt really good both during and after the hypnosis. While I was hypnotized, I felt relaxation on a level I had never felt before (and I was a bit upset when it ended; I'm told I even resisted being unhypnotized for a bit). Afterwards, I felt very well rested (I felt tired going into it) and I felt a sensation of happiness I hadn't felt in years. The reason why I obeyed the commands while I was hypnotized was because I was in such a relaxed state that it felt so good to obey and it would take effort to resist. I also remember everything that happened while I was hypnotized. You normally do unless you are given a post-hypnotic suggestion to forget (i.e. the hypnotist tells you when you are hypnotized that you will remember nothing after you wake up).

That being said, I'm told that if the hypnotist can't actually make you do something immoral and if he did, that would break the spell. Also, you can't get stuck hypnotized as after a long time being hypnotized, you'd just fall asleep.

Long story short, being hypnotized is a wonderful feeling. I have heard other people referring to it as "getting drunk for free, without the hangover." I was in college both times (still am) and since college is a time to experiment, I suggest you might want to try the same, if you're up for something like this.

i've tried self hypnotization, self hypnotization is a lot like meditation. it kind of feels like you're half awake, half asleep, but you have thought control. the hypnotist going to your school, unless he's a doctor, is probably a stage hypnotist. the thing to remember about hypnotization and meditation is that they can only work if you want them to, they can't be forced on you. i've never been involved in a stage hypnotist hypnotization, but i'm guessing it's the same, usually the subject was pre-selected, because if they pick somebody random, and that person wants to keep himself from being hypnotized, he will, and the hypnotization won't work, messing up the show
