The other users have explained what a primary source document is. If you go to your local university then there should be a section on primary source documents, they can help you look through them. They are Very interesting. Usually there are special rules to use in this section since the primary sources are usually aged. Also a local library might have a simliar section.

A primary source document is any document that the writer himself/herself actually records and has actual experience dealing with....such as diaries, journals, checkbooks, letters, any document of personal use. For a source to be primary it must come from the actual person who records it, either written, recorded, videoed, etc. The information can't be told to someone else and recorded by another person. It's firsthand knowledge, experience, etc., that has been recorded in some way.

the declaration of independence. the history books that write about it are secondary, but the d of i is primary, cuz its first.
