Had a smear done the other day and experienced spots of blood after the procedure only lasted a few hours. I am a little concerned coz never bled before after a smear and wondered if it was a sign of anything else. I am at the moment ttc

It's normal. The cervis has thousands of tiny capilaries in it and when disturbed, one or more might bust. It's not a problem. In fact, you might notice this more once you concieve and have sex with your husband. Sometimes just bumping the cervix will cause a capilary to break.

It is very common to have a little bit of spotting after the pap smear - Very normal and should not last more than a few days

Yes, it's not uncommon to bleed a little as the doctor scrapes live cells off the cervix with a brush so it can be irritating.

yes this is quite normal. i wouldn't worry to much about this if i was you. but if you are concerned then a visit to your doc maybe able to put your mind at rest. better to be safe then sorry.

it could b normal but still get checked out b/c u don't know what it could b u might need treatment if it isn't normal
