They are steadily improving..
Batting first against WI they won the series.
Against Sri Lanka they have chased successfully some stiff targets.
The bowlers are getting good openings.
Some brisk fielding and running between the wickets will take us to the top and bring the cup.

I think the semi-finals will see India, South Africa, West Indies and Australia. The West Indies are very dangerous at home, however I see India and South Africa in the finals. And because I´m South African my heart says South Africa but my head says India, I like their line up, and I think they have players who may be able to perform well under presssure. Either way, I can´t wait for it to start. Cricket is a great game, there are few other sports that can match the sportsmanship that is demonstrated in cricket. Hopefully the players won´t lose sight of that during this world cup. I would like to see a cricket world cup with good sportsmanship where the game wins and not the team/players ego/s. Cheers.

India is a strong team no one can rule out India until they are playing well
But i m too skeptical about India's chances of winning the world cup considering they play poorly on fast pitches
but u never know
at this point of time i would say its gonna be Between West Indies,South Africa or Australia and possibly England

I think that 50% chance of India win the world cup 2007,
if all the players are in good performance, then

The best indian team going for the World Cup after the 1983 Presidential Cup. India has found good openers in Ganguly and Uthappa, with Sehwag in there too. Yuvraj, Dravid, Dhoni and Tendulkar steady the middle order to form one of the best middle order batting. Lower middle order of Kumble, Harbhajan, Zaheer can hit a few runs too.
As on bowling - Zaheer and Sreesanth/Munaf Patel will be opening and are not as bad. Kumble, Harbhajan and Sachin - Sehwag can bowl many spin overs between them. That leaves one guy extra. He can be employed as a strike bowler - Irfan/Sreesanth or Dinesh Kaarthick as the 11th guy. Irfan can bat as well.
It is a very powerful batting line-up, and make take a beating on their bowling lineup.
Quality Fielders are in plenty - Yuvraj, Uthappa, Sachin, Kaarthick. Fielders like Munaf Patel will have to be hided on the field.
There are all winning chances for India. India will reach the semi-finals for sure.

India had a series at West Indies and booming with recent wins over sri lanka beside drastic down fall of Aussies in the hands of Kiwis and England.

only team effort. the best chance is for SA.
win in Vizag was scripted by yuvraj and contributions of ganguly, robin sewhag. and Bowlers did good job supported by superb fielding.
Dravid did good job as a captain, managed resoureces well.
Dravid as captain haven't lost any series at home. When Srilanka came last yr with Murali and Vaas, team won seires without gnaguly.
Dhoni with average of115 in 2 innigs and good job behind the wkts desereved to be MOs while ganguly round 80 from 3 innings.
Ganguly is always gets media hype. He was out cuaught and bowled when he was 7, at 14.1 over and umprire turned down sangakara's appeal. otherwise india would have been 110 for 4wkts. it was dhoni who did good job behind wkts and with better average deserved to be MOS

The team that puts on good consistent performance will be the WC winner .. but taking another vision: its just the performance of a single day of the match.
India has great batsmen, and good bowlers too. All they need to be is to be consistent. I think a batsman hitting two fifties in two games is much better than hitting 100 in one game and below 10 in other game. It is what Indian batsmen are likely to do.
I think India has very good chances to reach upto semi-finals, and after that it is just two games.
My three semifinalists are SA, AUS, IND.

If Indian players play to their potential consistently with proper application, dedication, determination and fighting spirit, India can defeniktely win the World Cup
