No place that allows any people to sign in is safe... there's always people pretending to be what they are not. The thing is that you need to be careful with the descriptions, pictures and who you let in in your friend circle. you have to be wise and not let anyone know your personal information... it's like chat rooms... like you can enter on them without no restriction there's plenty of weird and sick people who can do it too. just be smart enough to not be played.

Myspace is safe don't give out personal information and keep your myspace profile private so only your friends can communicate with you if you go private the only way someone can contact you is if they know your e-mail address or last name and even then you have to accept them before they can see your profile

As a parent of a 14 year old girl, I feel myspace.com is great for adults or monitored teenage children to keep in touch with friends and family (NOT to make NEW friends!). We love communicating with our friends and family across the country. The big fuss is that it is like an open window into your home. The thing about open windows in your home- they are fine if you are there to monitor the comings and goings of the window. Your danger lies in announcing the open window (public profile), giving directions to the open window (your real address), and telling who is there to be taken advantage of (personal info). I know there are parents that think that the site should be shut down due to the dangers out there (pedophiles with misleading info to trap someone). I respect their opinions on the subject. I also know that, in my experience, I have found that knowing who your child is talking to and actually knowing your child comings and goings makes a huge difference on how much danger they may be in.

It depends on how much information you give out. You can also set your profile to be private. That way only your "friends" can have access to your full page.

You can make your profile hidden so nobody but your friends can see it
