Do the people want us to stay or leave? What will happen if the U.S. leaves?

my take is that we should leave. those people are quite violent
and they hate themselves. Sunite and Chiites would have the opportnity to kill themselves, in my opinion it is a cheap way to figth terrorism.

For the most part, Iraqis of all persuasions are hostile to the US presence. The American presence is ineffectual in saving the lives of Iraqi civilians, and it merely seems to be aggravating the situation in terms of sectarian conflict. This is not to say - as some people here have - that the Iraqi people are all violent or terrorists. It is merely that they care much less about "democracy" and "freedom" and other big-sounding important abstractions than they do about being able to resume their lives in peace. Most Iraqis don't care very much what system of government they live under if they can be guaranteed stability and order. There seems little hope of this while the Americans are present.

They are open to too much propaganda and possibly afraid of who to trust. There has been too much killing of these people & need protecting. I believe they think if the USA did leave there would be peace. I pray that were the answer, but it is not. They will fall under a Islamic Dictatorship and the hatered between the Sunni & the Shites will continue to the end of time. All of the Middle East will fall into the hands of these Islamic Terrostists.

ok...we cant just quit and leave what we started without saving face. i say we let the iraqis vote if we should leave. if the majority says yes....then we are in the clear....if the majority says no....then we will stay and get things done...full force. id like to think that america has a conscience. theres other ways to take care of terrorists....and using all of damn money and time is not one of them!

Of course they want us out, Bush has killed a lot of innocent iraquies, there were no weapons so what are the troops doing there???
