What are the defining factors of this and why are they important when working in a helping profession?

Integrity refers to holding up your end of the bargain. If you say you are going to do something then you do it, if you can't do it for some reason then you address this right away, do not cover it up.

It is important in the helping relationship to establish a trusting relationship. When you are helping someone they must trust you in many ways and are more likely to open up to you when you hold up integrity.

when dealing with the public you always need to be respectful of their privacy, why would anyone come to a person that would not respect that. If you are doing some ones taxes it isn't up to you to share that information with another soul, unless ordered by the court

Edit note; the same could be said for your doctor, lawyer, etc.
