who and what were/is the importance of the criolles and peninusalares in the early latin history period?

Well, the criollos were born in the Western Hemisphere of Spanish parents, and the peninsulares were from Spain. The big thing to remember here is that the criollos weren't on the same footing as the peninsulares simply because they were NOT born in Spain, despite the fact that some of them were educated there.

Any time you get a division like this, a situation is created of a disaster waiting to happen--just as the American colonists resented what they felt to be classification as second-class British subjects, so the criollos didn't like being regarded as not quite as good as those born in Spain.

Face it, people are people, and no one likes to be looked down on because of an accident of birth!

I'm lost - was the latin history period not waay before the Creoles(attention to spelling please Questioner and Chrispy - don't you ever eat out??!) and presumably PeninSULares?

about the creoles they where the owners of almost all the commerce in the new world, also they occupied political roles on democracy and in getting the independence from Spain. they where a privileged class but some of them didn't like to be under the domain of Spain.
