There are soo many good books for that age group. Try using themes to help tie the books together for the kids, either by day, week, or month depending on your time frame. A good way to start would be searching for Caldacott, or Newberry award winning books. Also ask the librarian for the most popular books being checked out. You can search amazon.com or other book seller websites for ideas as well. And don't forget just because a book doesn't have words doesn't mean it won't be educational. Try Sector 7, Zoom, or Re-Zoom.

If you're looking for some quick picture books, then anything by Dr. Seuss is always a big hit. Also, Courdoroy and Five Little Monkeys are good, fun books.
If you're looking for something longer, to be read over time, I suggest Ralph S. Mouse or the Ramona series, both by Beverly Cleary; the Superfudge series by Judy Blume; "Amber Brown is not a Crayon", or the "Junie B. Jones" series. All of those are interesting enough for kids of all of those age groups.
