I have 2 betta's that she bought last week after my other 2 passed away. Now I found saw some really awesome fancy guppies and I fell in love. I want a tank of them. I'm a fish fanatic. But right now I only have 2 betta's I love my mom and don't want to be unfrair to her. Would it be bratty or ungrateful to ask her to buy to buy me a fishtank and the fancy guppies?

There's more cost involved as in keeping a Betta. Guppies are tropical fish and they need a tank, a heater, a pump, a filter, a light in the canopy and they reproduce at an enormous speed, one male guppy can have 10 females and they all will bear little fishies. You need to clean the tank once a month, you need non chlorinated water for that too. It's a lot of cost and work. A Betta's habitat are dirty rice fields and they can live in dirty water, no heat as you know. Maybe before you ask your mom, go to the pet store and find out the total cost and then make your decision.
Fish are really good for your health, watching an aquarium can lower your blood pressure and relax you from stress, maybe that's a point to get your mom to buy you one if she can afford it.

You could talk to your mom and tell her you fell in love with the guppies and want to buy some and a fish tank and ask her if there is anything you can do to earn the money, like wash the cars, clean the garage, wash all the windows, etc You shouldn't expect to get paid for your regular chores, but therey might be some extra stuff you can do, or if not or if your mom can't afford it, maybe you could babysit or do yard work for neighbors to earn the money. I am sure if you are doing good in school listen to your mom and do what she asks of you then she won't have a problem getting them for you if she can afford them, but if she can't afford them, don't throw a fit, try to get her to give you ideas for how you can earn the money.

P.S. I had guppies before, so if you get 3 or 4 females and a couple of males, you will have a tankful before you know it, just make sure you get plenty of plants for the babies ot hid in, guppies will eat their own babies if they can't hide!

i would wait a little while before i asked for this. if you get what you want now, you will have nothing to look forward to later on. you will like the fish and the aquarium just as much later as you do know. be happy with what you have and show some responsibility by taking care of them. then you can ask for something else without feeling bad for doing so. hope this helps. good luck.

That would depend on whether you ask her for things all the time, if you're generally a good, helpful kid who does well in school, and if your mom has enough money to buy you the fish and tank.

Is it possible you could do some sort of work to earn them?

Good luck.

As for it for your birthday or if it is far away, ask if you can do some extra chore for her around the house in exchange for a few fish and you can get more later (since you want a whole tank full).

yes, especially if its expensive. wait until some time where u deserve a present, this includes birthdays, getting a really good grade on a test, doing really well in a game or meet if ur on a sports team, doing really well on ur report card. if its expensive it has to be a bigger thing like a birthday or getting all As a simester, if its not it can be a smaller thing. dont ask for stuff u haven't earned.
ps if ur 15+ get a job to pay for it, like on the weekends. ask ur school counselor to help.

I don't feel it would hurt to ask. However, if she says no then you should accept her answer graciously. Perhaps, you can ask for the fish and tank for your b-day or Christmas if the answer is no. And I believe you already know not to put other fish in with the fighting fish, correct? Especially nothing smaller.

It might come across that way.

Offer to pay off half of it by doing chores or odd jobs. I.e if you'd get five bucks for shoveling off the drive way, the five bucks goes towards the fish.
