when I was a child there weren't any public service announcements except for Conalrad Stations, where you could tune to in case of emergencies...
In school, however, we had "Duck and Cover" films showing school children my age being attacked by atomic bombs and although the school in the film was blown to smithereens, the kids were safe cause they had safely hidden below their school desks. Its absurd to think of it now, but at the time, it was terrifying for kids my age.

I am from Nebraska, the northern portion of tornado ally. Tornado warnings always scared me. My parents had a close call once before I was born. We ran to the basement often.

The hepatitis one because it never made it really clear how you got hepatitis, so I thought that if I didn't wash my hands after going to the bathroom that I would automatically catch it.
