The first cut divides the whole pizza into two. The second cut across the first adds two more pieces. The third cut across both lines will add three more pieces. etc... After six cuts, the sum is 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 plus one more for the whole pizza you started with. Or if you need a formula:

[n (n+1) / 2] +1
6(6+1)/2 + 1
6(7)/2 + 1
42/2 +1
21 +1
22 slices

Whoever said 22 is correct. If you use the formula he provided it works every time. Try it out on paper, but draw a very big pizza because some of the pieces will end up being very small -- but remember to still count them!!!! Also remember that the pieces don't have to be the same size or originate from the same place.

Find the multiple of 6 that is closest to 31, but not more than 31.
(A multiple is when you "count" by it. 6, 12, 18, etc)

I'm pretty sure the answer is 16 when you cut the pizza into a grid-like shape with 3 verical cuts and 3 horizontal.
