Publicity stunt. She went a whole week without being in the spotlight, so she had to do something radical to get back into it. The only good thing I can say about it is that it drew the attention away from Anna Nicole Smith.

Has no one else ever been in trouble for meth or coke?
Here's how it works:
Britney went into rehab for one day, and on that first day they said to her:
"Hi, welcome to ____ Center. Today we'll show you around the facility and get you aquainted. Tomorrow we're going to schedule you for a hair-sample drug test to use as a base-line for your future urine sample tests".
It's odd how she immediately left on the first day after learning about a hair-sample drug test, and then removed all of her hair.
She wants everyone to believe it is because of depression, etc...but she simply did not want hair-test results to show a long history of drug use.
