I've been bullied once in my life but nothing serious just a pety thing really. But i was on a bebo page tonight and saw a page devoted to this boy who was only 14. He was always happy in his pictures and his mates said he was always smiling. The guy hung himself. The reason? Due to someone who was bullying him in school. I mean how can anyone be like this? It must have been bad if he took his own life. I also know people who have been bullied and it can effect people mentally more than physically. I truelly hate the way these people think they can do what the want when they see someone who has a weakness! Whats your view?

I was bullied at school, and it was a terrible experience, I didn't want to tell anyone about it, because I was too scared, but in the end I spoke out about it, I told my teachers, and they took it very seriously, in the head teacher dealt with it, it did take a while for the situation to get sorted out, but I'm glad I told someone about it =)

When I was younger, I was bullied by bigger and stronger kids. I started fighting back and beating up these bigger and stronger kids until I was no longer picked on and then I was the 'top dog.' I never really picked on or bullied others but my friends did. When I was a senior in high school, I started telling the people bulling others to leave them alone. Sort of defending the people being picked on as I knew no one would want to fight me. Bulling is wrong and as other have mentioned, the schools are starting to resort to a no bulling tolerance, which my childrens school has in place. Since I'm in law school now, I tell my kids that anyone touching you, pushing, punching or even verbal threats are to be reported to the teacher/school. Also, they should not be the one's doing these to other kids becuase they would be in serious trouble with the school and at home. There are legal ways of squashing these abuses (assault or battery) and these things need to end, as they will only lead to problem in adult life later. The bullies might think its fun or innocent but its not, its a legal matter and if the schools won't address them, then the parents need to take these matters to court and have the legal system end them (restraining orders, etc...). No one wants another Columbine on their hands: that was the prime example of what can happen if bullies aren't stopped by the school. The schools have a duty to protect the students there and if no one will listen to the students, then some students will get frustrated and we don't need them to take matters into their own hands. But ultimately, its the job of the parents to talk to their children about bulling, that its wrong and could lead to other serious problems.

I hate bullies too, the are nothing but little insecure people who bully people just to make pathetic little lives feel better. I think being mentally bullied has a greater affect on someone life then being physical bullied. Emotional scars can run deep.

I think that Bully's have been abused themselves and think that they must do the same thing in order to pump themselves up but never do. They keep doing these bad things most of the time in front of others that will be with them sometimes reinforcing them out of fear that if they do not they will be treated badly by the bully.
The Bully never feels good or grows a positive self esteem they just keep getting worse and worse .

Bullys come in a lot of forms, I think the big problem is people who make it there objective to bully and to set out to wreck peoples lives, because they nothing better to do, they are losers that need to grow up. I say that because we all say stuff to people or about people, and people just take it different ways, its part of like life, so if we're labelled bullys just for that it's a bit silly if you get me

Bullying is bad. I have never been bullied yet but there are like tons of them in my school and they scare me. So yea the point is that they are bad because many people who do get bullied turn into bullies themselves because they know that now they got bullied they want someone else to get bullied. So that makes more bullies. I hate people like that too.

Sorry if it does sound confusing.

I was bullied at school.

I later learned that most bullies are insecure themselves and use bullying to make them feel better. It does this by convincing them they have power over someone else so they can't be that bad.

Bullies should be punished severely when caught to stop them doing it as it can destroy their victims and ruin their lives for years after school.

Schools take a serious view against bullying and put in place personnel and processes to ensure that schools are safe and orderly places for learning and development.
Schools adopt a proactive and holistic approach towards discipline, including dealing with school bullies. Schools investigate all incidents of bullying and work to resolve them quickly so that they would not adversely affect the performance of students and interaction among them. Besides taking appropriate disciplinary measures on bullies, counselling and other preventive actions are also carried out. Proactive programmes in schools, such as peer support, peer mediation and conflict management help students build self-esteem and relationships.
Schools have the necessary qualified personnel to deal with bullying. All schools have discipline masters/mistresses who are trained to manage misbehaviour, including bullying. They are assisted by Operations Managers who also help maintain discipline in the school. Schools also have teacher counsellors who are trained in advanced counselling skills and crisis intervention to guide the students. Every secondary school will be provided with a full-time school counsellor in 2006 and every primary school and junior college in 2008. Where necessary, schools also work with professional agencies to help the students.
Bullying in schools is regarded as a serious matter and schools will take the necessary actions to prevent it from happening and to deal with it if it happens. Fortunately, records indicate that the number of serious offences in schools has remained small and relatively stable over the years. Nevertheless, parents and teachers need to work together to help students become upright and responsible adults. If parents have concerns regarding bullying in schools, we encourage them to approach the school directly.

I either read the same story or one very similar, it was disgusting, apparently because most of the bullying was after schoool on the bus it was a "grey" area for the school and not really their problem, even the bus driver was horrible to him. I hope they are miserable in their guilt for the rest of their lives, I blame the school. My daughter got picked on on the way home and the head master hauled their asses in to his office, they walked off in tears and never did it again. You are supposed to be able to send your child off to school knowing they are going to be looked after and taught a good education not have them coming home and commiting suicide because they are so miserable there and noone will help. Sad
