Hi, yes the cone shape will be gone. Don't worry! The doctor had to vacuum my son's head too. Just put a pillow above his cone-shape head when he lays!
My son's head is round now & he's 4 month old.

Children can be born with a cone-shaped head due to being squeezed through the birth canal as well as the cause you mentioned. Every time you hold your baby, massage its head (I know this sounds a bit odd) and you will help reshape it while the bones and cartilage are still flexible. Ask a nurse or a doctor; they should tell you something similar.

It should have gone away within a few days and only left behind the little bruise. With my son he had to be delievered with a vacuum because his head was laying sideways and since it was 13yrs between my children he was "kinda stuck". By the time we left the hospital 48 hours after birth his head was to its normal shape.
As for the Vacuum causing mental disabilities if it is done right by someone experianced in using it at the right pressures the baby will be fine. I know the situation we were in it saved my sons life and I trusted my dr and he knew what he was doing.

I definitly don't agree with the vacuum, a doctor used that on my friend and her baby is mentally and physically handicap because of it. The nurse involved finally came forward and confessed that what the doctor did was wrong, and she finally won her court case against the doctor. Its a horrible thing, I would see another doctor about the cone head, and charge the doctor if it stays permanent.

Yes-cone head isnt a permanent condition. As his head growns and his hard spots fuse,. his head shoudl take on a more normal shape.

It should go away soon. Check with your doctor or get a second opinion. Never heard of vacuum being used.

yes, don't worry, it will go away. its just because his skull hasn't fully hardened yet. i don't know when exactly it'll go away(depends on baby), but if it hasn't gone away by his first b-day,then i have no clue what's going on.
