I watched last week on monday (i think ) a programme about 2 blind parents whom of had 5 children ... the oldest 11 and youngets 18 months . I felt extremely sorry for the eldest as she had to do everything around the house and the parents did nothing . The poor children were brought into thsi life with incredibily selfish parents ... I feel very upset and uncomfatable about thsi . Who agrees ?

I could hardly bare to watch it (I dont like feeling sad) the children lived in the most disgusting, overcrowded conditions which is not surprising when an 11 year old girl is charge of their welfare...... And the parents openly admitted the reason they had so many kids was so that they could be looked after.

For god's sake the baby had to wait until the eldest child got home from school before having its nappy changed!!

I watched and I thought the same, I'm glad you say it, because it's normally people who choose not to have children who are considered selfish. Of course, it's good if kids have their little duties, but I say little! The poor eldest daughter might run away from home soon and join some gang. It's not gonna end good with that family.

Those who are unable to care for a child without assistance need to hire someone.
It seems wrong to say someone shouldn't be able to have kids just because they are blind, but on the other hand, children should be allowed to be children.
Parents are responsible for the wellbeing of their children...not the other way around. I think it's outrageous and that those parents need to hire a maid, and a nanny, and a personal assistant.

Yeah that sounds horrible!! You don't have children to look after the rest of your children. What I don't understand is they must have looked after their children at one point...Take the eldest for example when she was a baby who helped look after her.

I don't have anything against blind people having children, because I know that many can look after children adequately. But this couple just described, that is wrong to expect the eldest to look after the others.

I have blind friends who have 7 year old twins, they do everything themselves without the help of their children, everyone has the right to children blind or otherwise.

I only caught the last 15 mins and that was enough to infuriate me!! I then called a friend and ranted at her for about half an hour!! The bit about the hospital telling them to "try for another baby" mad me really mad, they werent looking after the ones they had! Even now talking about it makes me mad!! Bless the children they have now.

i watched as much as I could stomache and was horrified.
i have a disabled daughter but I have never robbed my other two of their childhood to care for her. i am the parent I take responsibility I find nothing wrong in them having children just NOT at the expence of others.
Since that programme social services have moved them to bigger house and got help and she is pregnant again!

Yeah it does seem almost like they had kids just to take care of them. If that is the case then it is really selfish. I didn't see the program though so I can't judge them too much.

Never watched but was told about it and yes they seem very selfish and lazy they should not of had children it seems their reason to have was solely to look after them

If they had the children because they loved kids, then fine, but it seems to me that their reasons for procreating are to provide permanent carers for themselves - that I do find incredibly selfish and it makes me seethe!
