My appetite use to be bigger at that time too and I also wanted chocolate......
All I can suggest is that you buy a bag of hershey kisses and only allow yourself 6 a day. (during period) They are lower in calories than a candy bar or other chocolate......
For something salty, allow yourself 6 pretzels a day.
To be sure you don 't cheat, place pretzels in a baggie, and kisses in another baggie... get treat throughout day when "needed"..!
Fruit may alleviate the sweet you are wanting. But there is no substitute for chocolate I don't think....

Chocolate for sure! I always want Mexican food too...and yes, the salty snacks. I guess it is pretty normal. (And its nice to have an excuse to eat chocolate!)
