my favourites was The Searchers and True Grit - I think he was the best

True Grit and The Searcher were very good, but my personal favorite was The Quiet Man. I love the scene where he walks into the pub and orders "one of those black beers" I'm a guiness drinker and I would love to have had a "black beer" with The Duke.

Its hard to pick which one if the best. His version of the Alamo was great. Also Rio Bravo, Eldorado, and Mclintok, because they actually have humor. My two favorite nonwesterns of his would have to be Hellfighters and The Green Berets. According to my dad all John Wayne movies are good.

yeah i like true grit too. i also really like the green berets, yeah its a propaganda piece and tis cheesey but JW is great in it, standing tall thoroughout, the sons of katie elder w dean martin, love it, i always liked McQ too, but the fave, has gotta be the quiet man, i waited forever looking for that on dvd and finally found it by happenstance, i sjut love it, wonderful movie

i like Rooster Cogburn the best
oh and the princess up there, ill have her know many of his movies he was defending savges not sooting them if she's ever watched and shed know that. good exaple McLintoch. so shut your mouth if you dont know what your talking about.
