Someone else mentioned a heater, this is WRONG. Goldfish need cool water, and will sicken in warmer water. And as a bunch of other people mentioned, goldfish are poop machines, so make sure that's a really good filter, and that your tank is a LOT bigger than you think it needs to be, like 30 gallons or more for just a few fish.
Remember, goldfish are pretty aggressive, so mixing them with other fish is generally a bad idea, plus most other fish are actually tropicals and will not do well in the cooler water that a goldfish likes.
If you want plants in your tank, goldfish are notorious diggers so those plants are most likely going to wind up floating around, so you might want to get plants that do that naturally, like Java Moss. The goldfish are nibblers too so Java Moss is ideal since it grows fast and isn't damaged much by browsing fish.

Depending on the size of the tank, make sure you get a huge filter for the tank, because Goldfish are the messiest fish around. Just make sure you try to keep the water clean as possible, although this is almost impossible with goldfish. Get some gravel or sand for the bottom of the tank, some simple decorations and your good. Make sure you get a heater to heat the water to around 78F.

I would say some cheap plants java moss workswell
as does hornwort
you shouldnt need a heater
if the tank is a fish bowl I would get a small tank say a 10 gallon

a dozen or so pond snails
a light
a 5 gallon bucket
a python(not the snake)
a good flake or pellet food
that should be it remember not to over stock and keep upwater changes

Well, water would be good! (lol)

Gravel is good for a substrate for bacteria. These will help you keep the ammonia and nitrites (toxic to fish) down. If you haven't cycled your tank yet, you should read this website: http://badmanstropicalfish.com/articles/article14.html

If you're using a tank 30 gallons or more, I'd recommend an undergravel filter as well. Goldfish are dirty animals (they poop a lot!).

Any decorations are optional.

Water! and some weed Goldfish are green eaters. The weed helps oxygenate the water and is a source of food for them as well.
Some rocks and old wooden branch to give them places to hide and create an interesting environment just like a stream or pond in the wild

Goldfish need clean, fresh, declorinezed water, and lots of it! Maybe 20 gallons per goldfish, and a water change every 3 weeks, would be good enough.

I find goldfish a lot more robust than tropical fish. They are a lot easier to keep.

Basically they need:

water, be sure to treat it to remove chlorine that is in normal tap water

Pebbles
Pump
Filter
And a light if you want it
