My son has very bad eczema and gets this behind his ears, it is a build-up of dead skin cells. Clean the area and keep it moisturized with a GOOD moisturizer, we like Aveeno Oatmeal lotion because it seems to last the longest and is gentle to his skin.
Good luck with it!

Call the pediatrician. I wouldn't seek advice here only because she is just a small baby. Her skin is so sensitive and she may have a small infection to an allergy. Stop using vaseline and baby oil both products contain mineral oil and it's truly not a healthy product for the baby - (or adults) sadly people are misinformed about this. Use a gentle baby soap, clean wash cloth, and keep it clean. Call the doctor and hopefully the nurse or doctor can just talk to you over the phone and or see you soon just to ease your mind and help your baby!!

My girls all have gotten this too. It has nothing to do with your soap or how often you bathe or don't bathe them. However, I do think that is where the statement came about to "make sure to wash behind your ears". Put some hydrocortisone creme on it twice a day and it will go away or atleast get better (don't be surprised if it comes back though until he is a toddler).

My son has the same thing. No matter how much I wash behind his ears, it's still there. I started putting a bit of moisturizer or A&D Ointment behind there and it's starting to get better. It's nothing to worry about, it's almost like cradle cap.

I had the EXACT same problem with my girl. I bought some of that Skin So Soft from avon, rubbed it behind her ears one morning and it cleared up that day! It's been gone ever since. Very good stuff.

My youngest had this, I used to rub a little baby oil behind his ears after his bath.

Eczema patients can avoid scratchy fibers for softer ones like bamboo, cotton, or silk, which are gentler on the skin. Opting to buy organic fibers can also be a wise, healthy, and eco-friendly alternative. Learn here https://tr.im/oGyzR

try switching to a milder soap, My son used to get it...and still gets it on his head. Its not cradle cap, its I think a build up of oil on the skin or scalp. Since the J&J baby soap is so mild, it actual does a very poor job of cleaning...wont hurt the baby, wont clean their hair either. I wouldnt worry about it as long as you clean it off and the skin is not red or foul smelling underneath. If there is any redness or a bad smell, take him to the doctor right away.
