For example..if an acquaintance of yours suggested that you act in a way to please them or someone else....Would it prove more logical to decline changing your behavior to please others, or would the power of suggestion prevail and cause you to act differently in order to maintain a relationship? Could it be assumed that the power of suggestion goes far beyond mere relations, and delves into manipulative disregard for the ability of human beings to act on free will?

Well,..I SUGGEST you do whatever you want.......You decide if the relationship is more important than your whims and curiosities..Probably a lot depends on the relationship and what you want out of it....Reep what you sow.....Go ahead use your free will but but remember that you are also held accountable for your actions....Just as YOU hold others accountable for theirs....That's not manipulation !!!,that's life as we all decide who and what we allow into our lives,so be yourself.Have fun and make your choices.......Try not to hurt yourself....that is the goal ,huh.......manipulation..?...your question is manipulatation......

The Power Of Suggestion Definition

It would depend on the suggestion. From what you say, I think our definitions of power of suggestion differ somewhat. You sound as though you were suggesting guilt and manipulation to get your way. My definition would be more hypnotic in nature. I might, for example, suggest that I might introduce you to my aunt, who lives in Florida. She is a lovely lady with a citrus orchard. When I visited her for the first time, she invited me into her kitchen. When we walked into the kitchen, there was a lovely crystal platter of citrus wedges on the counter. She got a bottle of ice water and some simple syrup from the fridge. Then she began to squeeze the wedges into the glasses. Before she could use them all, I grabbed a wedge from the plate and bit into it, thereby discovering that it was actually a lemon wedge, not orange as I had originally assumed!
Did your mouth water? THAT, my dear, is the power of suggestion!
