I'm sure that a lot of the 47 mil feel like they can't afford that little bit coming out of their check but gripe and complain when they get the bill for an ambulance ride.

Actually I did know this. I know someone who works for a major restaurant chain and they decided to offer their managers and assistant managers health insurance benefits where they paid 25% of the premium and the company picked up the rest. Of the twenty-five that qualified, only three or four accepted the coverage. Some of these employees that didn't accept have coverage through other sources, like a spouse's health care. I was shocked that the vast majority did not accept such a plan.

Yes, the endlessly-quoted figure of 47 million does include all kinds of folks who are not interested in paying for health insurance. I read a well-reasoned column in a San Diego newspaper demonstrating that about 1/2 of the folks without health insurance do no wish to have it if it costs them ANYTHING at all.
These include a whole lot of 20-somethings (who tend to see doctors only if they're run over in the street) as well as people whose calculators tell them they'll come out ahead by self-insuring themselves. There were a number of other groups specified but I'm afraid I can't recall them right now.

Some people have coverage through their spouse but some people are like Smellyfoot and do not want to spend the money on it. That is fine but they should not complain either because if Universal Health care is ever enacted we will all have way more than $200 per pay period deducted for that purose. And without a choice about it.

This is no shocker. Some refuse the health care because they can afford to buy themselves better on their own. Others refuse it because even though the company pays a large amount, they don't think it is worth even that small percentage (which could be alot to them). My husband worked at Home Depot for a while when we were in college. He refused the health care because he would end up paying $200 every pay period - in which he was making around $800. I don't know what percentage Home Depot was paying, but we had better things to do with that $200 then pay for crappy health care.

NO and how would you know?
Maybe some had spouses that had a better coverage plan than what you were offering.
The real reason so many are uninsured are for a vast amount of reasons , but usually the high cost of coverage and a low wage job.
I had a job a few years ago that paid me 250 a week but the insurance was 140 a week for my "family plan" whats an American to do when faced with this reality?.me I found a better job, but not everyone can.

How can human beings arise with the money for to purchase their very own medical coverage ? lots of have a annoying time paying their share of company coverage? The corporation tax credit in January 2010 replaced into for employers to apply to hire workers or furnish coverage. it would not pay for workers to purchase their very own guy or woman rules considering that employers get a crew fee. The 2014 guy or woman mandate does supply human beings a subsidy to purchase their very own coverage having no longer something to do with their employers. If those businesses with above 50 workers drop their plans particularly than furnish extra desirable coverage plans, persons can then purchase from the substitute. there is extra beneficial than unemployment coverage once you artwork. there is state incapacity or inner maximum incapacity plans, Workmans Comp for pastime injuries, Paid or Unpaid kinfolk go away, OSHA place of work protection policies, company share of Social protection tax, 401K or IRA.

I'm sure they're included,as they must sign a waiver to decline.Unfortuneately, wages haven't nearly kept up with the cost of living, and insurance surpasses even that.Younger workers with no families are notorious for taking this risk, they think nothing catestrophic will happen to them
