I still have not had a period since before I was pregnant and I have noticed that for the past 3 months I have had cramps that occur every 4 weeks (like a period, but no period). Pregnancy test was negative. Just wondering why my nipples are so sore all of the sudden. Has this happened to anyone else out there?

It could be that your baby is teething. Gum pain can cause a baby to latch in a weird way, also it increases certain enzymes in the saliva that some moms react badly to.

Pay careful attention to the latch and try wiping your nipples after each feeding and applying a moisturizer.

This happened to me when my baby was 5 months and I actually was pregnant. Even if you havn't had a period you could still be pregnant. I was nursing full time having periods like every two weeks, my Dr. said because my periods were so close together I probably ws not ovulating..9 months later i had my baby girl!

Yes I have nursed all 3 of my babies and sometimes out of the blue my nipples would just get really sore and hurt, like they did when I had first begun to breastfeed. Its normal for that to happen.

You could be ovulating for the first time (since giving birth that is)
When you ovulate your nipples can be sore, but a lot of women don't notice this until they have a baby sucking on them.
So yea, you could be getting your first post partum period.

well I got the depo shot after my pregnancy and i didn't have a period for nine months. from just one depo shot I guess it messed my cycle up or something. I did get cramps and was bitchy around the time my period was supposed to be. If you can ask your doc about it and you will be sure then. Good luck

couple of suggestions:
make sure you keep your nipples dry...dont put a nursing pad back in that is damp.

Also, is your little one bitting or pulling...at 9 months he may be teething and biting a bit.
Just make sure you keep em them clean (no dried milk) and nothing moist againt them...but at the same time make sure that you keep them moisturized.

I have never nursed that long so I wouldnt know about that. I have heard long as you breast feed you may not have a period.
