The free throw lane is 12 feet wide and 15 feet long. The distance from the free throw line to the three-point line is 4 feet 9 inches. The bottom block to the baseline is 4 feet.

A free throw is awarded to a player who gets fouled, or taken as a result of a technocal foul, and is a "free" shot from the free throw (or foul) line, and is worth 1 point. A FG (field goal) is any basket other than a free throw that is made during the course of a game. You can have a 2 point FG or a 3 point FG. And of course a 3 pointer is a shot that is made by a player whos feet are behind the 3 point line when the shot is released.

Don't listen to the first 2 people. The free throw line is 15 feet from the backboard and the 3 point line is 19 feet 9 inches from the middle of the center of the basket (rim). The nba 3 point line is 23 feet 9 inches from the middle of the basket.

The free throw line is 15 feet away from the baseline. The NBA regulation 3-Point line is 21.5 feet away, the college 3-point line is 19 feet away.

From baseline to the plane of the backboard is 4 feet. From the plane of the backboard to the free throw line is 15 feet. It is six feet farther to the three-point line.
As a shooting coach, let me add that, since you are interested in distances, please master your shot from closer in and then you will earn the right to move back another three feet. Mastery is when, from a particular distance, you can make at least six of ten without defense on you. Failing to do that is one definition of being out of your range. Another definition of it is that you change your form in order to get the ball to the hoop.
Shoot with proper form and stay in your range. Then you can work on increasing your range as time and success go on.
