The only way this will become possible or practical is if the cost of getting things into space comes down drastically . Right now it cost $10,000 per pound to get some thing into space add every thing up that you need like a space ship that ways tons all the equipment and food and allot of other things. But once we get in space its easy to build stuff because of the lack of gravity.
you wouldn't need cranes and stuff because in space you can move almost anything . For example you could lift a 1000 pound Peace of material by yourself. Another big problem is the suns deadly radiation. We would need a shield for that. Also power could be a problem. If you are close to the sun you can use solar cells if you are farther into space , you will need another source of power . The lack of gravity on the human body can also be a problem . In space we don't use our muscles as much as we do on earth . if you don't move you mussels or joints they can weather away . So if you move into a space shuttle for say 10 years and return to earth you probably would not be able to walk.
also we dont know if human baby's can develop in zero gravity. right now it would cost trillions just to try but if the cost of everything comes down than maby but not in the near future maby in the year 20500.

For a brilliant area colony, in all threat they're going to desire a self-enclosed atmosphere to offer foodstuff, oxygen, and clean water. This has been tried a minimum of as quickly as, utilising an experimental facility called Biosphere 2, which tried to create a self-sustained atmosphere. in the 1st test, they controlled to create sufficient foodstuff for the small group to stay to inform the tale, yet did no longer produce sufficient oxygen. whether, an extremely area colony could use extra technologies to end specific issues, like in basic terms keeping apart oxygem from water, if there's a brilliant sufficient supply.
