That is such a derrogatory song. I realize they're just voicing their opinions about the country, but it gives reason to mock Americans even more when abroad. When I was in Europe for a semester of college, for example, some people just referred to me as 'the American Idiot.'

This is probably completely bias, but I just think Greenday is just whining about the things that they're too lazy to change. They sing about the media and how it's corrupting society like they're not part of it. That's just me.

They have freedom of speech, so they can say what they want..

The song it about being trapped in a world of misconception/chaos and having nowhere to go..a place where people are controlled by the media and are told what to do.
This "place" is otherwise known as America.
And it's true..Americans listen to the media. They believe what they're told, no matter how crazy it is. Hence, "American Idiot."

They simply wrote this song because they don't agree with what's going on with the war, our government, and society.

i wish they did no longer hire Kara this 12 months just to write that friggin music, b/c this is the worst winner music to date. i'm disappointed approximately how all season they communicate approximately showing "who you're as an artist" and then lead them to sing that stupid *** music that ought to no longer be interpreted into the two considered one of their genres of music! SO annoying! i think of they might desire to do away with the "idol music" all jointly. I additionally think of Adam would be extra desirable off if he would not win this night...

They don't like Bush and what direction the country's going in. That song is the reason i stopped liking green day's new stuff. Before that they weren't political.
