Have any of you ever sewn pleated drapery panels together? I had to buy 4 (FLORAL) panels to fit my big double window and I need to sew 2 together for each side. My question is: Should I try to completely open the seams on the the side of the panel, then sew them together or just stitch them with the seams left intact? I'm not sure how they will look because I will have sheer curtains behind them. Also how hard is it to seem together the pleats at the top and make them look like they are all one piece of fabric? I'm new to sewing and fell in love with these curtains when I saw them. I hoping with some help I can tackle this project. Thank You for any suggestions.

Without looking at the drapes, I would do the same as Taffney.

It's going to be difficult to seam the panels at the top especially with the pleats. You should probably take at least the sides that will be joined together apart and take one at a time. Try this on scrap fabric first so as to not ruin your beautiful drapes.

i would just put right sides together, unless you have a pattern to match up, then that would be another approach.
You can take the time to seem rip it out if you need the extra distance, other wise i would just put the panels together right sides facing and top stitch down the length of the drapes, if the material is not to thick, you can just zip it through a sewing machine.

Don't stitch them with the seams intake.. It will look bulky.. take out the sided seams and the bottom hem and header on that side.. sew your seam then stitch the hem and header closed.. It won't take you any longer and it will look a lot nicer..
