I just bought one(gwl11) about 2yrs ago, after our 8yr old Maytag died.
That ended up being a real piece of ____!

The new Fisher Paykel is awesome.
I loved the idea of the direct drive DC motor. I love the sound it makes as it spools up to speed for the spin cycle. It runs great, is nice and quiet. Uses less water, and electricity. We tracked the bills/meters to see if it did what the sales guy said it would, and he didn't exagerate It works like is boasts. It's actually smaller than our old machine but has a bigger load capacity.

It was a little higher priced than all the other brands, but so far I have to say it's well worth the extra cost.
I give it an hardy thumbs up.

I have a Fisher Paykel washing machine and love it! I know it has no transmission to go out (It is direct drive)..........I know that it was originally made in New Zealand, and that it uses extremely low energy and water. Mine is so great to use. I put the clothes in, the machine WEIGHS the clothes to determine how much water to use, and I pick a temperature for it. My clothes come out nearly dry when I spin the 'normal' speed.....since I read that it spins at 1,000 rpms, my permanent press spins at 750, and my delicates spin out at 35 rpm. That, to me, means that less time is needed in the dryer, and the dryer is what costs so much to run! Mine has the wool-wash cycle, since New Zealand has so many sheep! I use this cycle to gently wash my sweaters! This is really a fantastic machine that saves me LOTS of money on energy bills, water bills, and I don't need to throw out my clothes because the washer was too hard on them! I hope you got one!
