Activating my pre paid sidekick?

i just bought my friends old sidekick II cus she updated hers and i was wondering if i go and buy the pre paid sim card how do u activate it????? is there a way to do it if i dont have my phone when i go and buy the card?

First of all you need to go to the retailer store in this case T-Mobile store and tell them that you want to activate this phone for a prepaid account. You will need to bring the phone with you because they will ask for the MEI number which is the number on the back of the phone below the battery cover. Plus you will need to buy a sim card from the retailer store for activation.
