There is a difference between deodorant and antiperspirant... Deodorant just covers the smell. Antiperspirant keeps you from sweating so there is nothing to cover. Also think about using an antiperspirant gel (even if it is made for a guy) like a sport gel. Gels cover better.

That would be a problem. I hope these help a little. These are the recipes of two of the most effective natural deodorants that can be easily made at home (found these online, haven't actually tried them, sorry - check out this website I pasted a link to, there is a bunch more information that you might find interesting on this subject):
Baking Soda Powder and Cornstarch Mixture
Baking soda is an alkaline that helps in the rapid evaporation of sweat. To get a hundred percent natural deodorant make a mixture of equal quantities of baking soda and cornstarch. You can also add a few drops of essential oil to make it lightly scented. Apply on dry underarms.
Liquid Deodorant
If you prefer your natural deodorant in liquid form make tea with aromatic herbs like sage rosemary mint or coriander. Dilute with mineral water and add essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus to get the anti-bacterial effect.

tell your mom that the breast cancer is just a myth. there are plenty of sources you could find on the internet that dispells the myth of deoderant causing breast cancer.
you really need to get a decent brand of deoderant. the natural stuff may just not work.

There is no truth in the rumor that deodorants and antiperpirants cause breast cancer. I will look up the link for this rumor so you can print it out and show it to your mom. I will add it to this message when I find it. Posted it and it is directly from a breast cancer website.

IT COULD BE FROM A NUMBER OF ITEMS. THE FOODS WE EAT . THE AMOUNT OF WATER WE DRINK AND OUR BATHROOM DUTIES ETC. YOU MIGHT TRY A LITTLE DAB OF TRIPLE ANTI-BACTERIAL OINTMENT UNDER EACH ARM TRUE, ITS A BIT GREASY BUT TRY A TINY B IT SO IT ISNT GREASY. YOUR MOM IS CORRECT , THE ALUMINUM WHATEVER IN MANY DEODERANTS IS A CARCINOGEN.( CANCER CAUSING) AND HAS CAUSED CANCER IN WOMENS BREASTS AND ALSO IN MENS BREASTS.

Use mouthwash! It works!
No need to dilute! Just use it straight from the bottle.
