not if they serve u in the car, that is obvious, but what about when you just go to the take out window? i just moved to a place that has sonic and i am wondering, i always feel odd when they walk to your car for take out, i dont want to stiff em

You don't HAVE to ever tip anywhere - but you are a cheap skate bum if you don't...and don't expect good service if you get the same server twice.
I usually give the car-hops a buck from my change. I know they are only getting 5.15 per hour - and tips sure do help. So yes, you should tip.
FYI, I never worked at sonic...but knew people who did.

I do not tip at the drive thru at Sonic but I do tip if the car hop delivers my food to my car.

if you go to the window, no. personally, I tip when they serve me in the car although I have a friend who does not. the service we receive is about the same.

Put your self in their shoes. With the money they make a tip would be nice. If good service then good tip. Bad service....bad tip.

Just say "Thank You" and roll up your window and they will get the hint. After all its part of their job and they are already doing their job.
No need to tip at any fast food place. Its their job.

Only if you want to. Put yourself in there shoes would you want a tip.. Generally if you are in dought over who to tip... Chances ARE YEP they take tips :)
