I used to live in Toronto & we moved out of Toronto in 1976. When we lived there we only had one Black Family that lived in the naborhood, I went back to my old naborhood about 5 years ago and I did't see one White face & there was a sign that said "White's Bewere Enter At Own Risk", so much has changed in the past 30 years, now every second house in my old naborhood is a crack house... So to answer your Question maybe people don't want the same sh!t that happened to my old naborhood to happen to theirs... Just a thought...

I don't know why that should happen, it's against the law. I'd be suing. My parents did have a problem when they were building their house on the beach in Pensacola, though. Once the workmen saw they were black, the finished the work in a very shoddy fashion. Once again, it was time to sue, but instead of paying they sent them to do the work for free. When people try to do things like that, it's best to hit them in their pockets. They'll straighten up!
Personally I don't understand how being Black brings down house values. We keep up our property WAY better than most of the neighborhood. And even with the above mentioned problems with my family, my dad is now the leader of the neighborhood committee. Quite honestly, I wouldn't want neighbors who lived in the Stone Age.

red lining. Well because white people are racist and dont want to live near black people. Having black people next door does in-fact drive the price down since it is harder to sell the house due to white people's racism (some not all of course) Its not the realtors that are racist. Its the market.
Although the bank wont loan ****** the money anyway.

I forgot what the term of this realtor technique is called but its technique where realtors try to move as many minorities out of a neighborhood and move white people in to raise the property price up. To do this they ensure no minorites move into any of those houses so the property value of those houses stays up. To practice this technique is illegal but some people still do it.

We still have small minded people out there who thinks black people belong in the slums, ghettos, and the projects, as if we don't work hard and want better for our families. I guess it would be totally unimaginable that we would want raise our children in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood, somewhere we can walk our dogs and take our kids to the park and enjoy family time.

it is not just the realtor, the home owners do not want to sell to Blacks, and the existing neighbors do not want to live next door to Blacks. It is called discrimination, it is alive, well, and thriving in these United States of America!!

I cant really answer your question about black people as I live in Australia and we don't have that sort of thing happening here I am white but let me tell you this there are white people I would not want to live alongside or have in my neighbour hood so don't just signal out black people. theres good and bad in all races.

Simply-put: they own a business and they're out to make money. Property value goes down when lots of minorities move into a specific area.
Just proof of America's institutionalized racism that so often goes unnoticed.

when a black person moves into a non black neighborhood the value starts to dwindle. it's a fact that people know about but can't talk about in the open.

It's called "stearing" and it's illegal! If you can prove they're doing it, you can bust the bastards. You might even be able to retire on the lawsuit the way the courts are now.
