As a REALTOR and real estate Broker, I can tell you that racial discrimination is the ultimate offense a real estate agent can commit. I've been in the business over 20 years and assure you that real estate agents are one of the more color-blind groups of people you'll ever find.
The bottom line is that it doesn't make sense to discriminate and lose your livelihood AND a ton of money in a housing discrimination case. To illustrate how serious an offense it is - most real estate companies have "E&O" (Errors and Omissions) insurance available for their agents. It specifically EXCLUDES racial discrimination - meaning if you do it and you're caught - you're on your own.
Customers and clients on the other hand (buyers and sellers) often have to be reminded that color is of no importance and agents cannot discuss the racial makeup of families or neighborhoods. If a client or customer insists on making race an issue regarding who they will buy/sell with or where they will live, we walk away from the deal. It just isn't worth it.

Sadly, some believe that an influx of blacks moving into certain neighborhoods will reduce property values. While in some cases this might be true, noone should be barred from living whereever they choose. I guess it all comes down to whether or not you have the financial resources to live in some areas (although I can't imagine living where I would be persecuted and reviled).

In this country anyone of any race can live anywhere they want to as long as they meet the qualifications of the mortgage lenders, it has nothing to do with realtors, there job is to sell homes they could care less if your green.

It is a violation of Federal law for real estate agents to discriminate based on race. Forms of discrimination include agents providing differential services and refusing to provide services.
