It depends on your nationality. I'm Canadian and was able to get a visa on arrival. If you can, I would suggest getting one before you go. The lineups for visas at the Amman airport are horrendous.

Some nationality they can & they will have 30 days visa - renewable-
I would say you contact the Jordanian embassy in your country.
Ask your questions to stay on the safe side.

It depends on your nationality, you can refer to the Jordanian embassy web site. However, most of westerner nationalities can do it, but I also would suggest to make it before you arrive.
