You can buy alcoholic drinks from the age of 16. Unlike some else said, we do have liquor stores. Beer and wine you can buy in the supermarket and somethings a little bit stronger. But strong liquor is only sold in liquor stores. They can and will ask for identification if they think you're younger.

The legal age to drink beer/wine in the Netherlands is 16. For liquor and spirits, you have to be 18. Since Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands, and all Dutch laws are the same around the entire country, the legal "drinking" age (for beer) is 16. So, you would be able to drink alcohol legally (you do have to show your ID).

Amsterdam is only a city, but it's the same in the whole country, 16 for beer/wine, 18 for hard liquor (not sure which % it is). You can buy it in supermarkets unlike the USA or Canada, :), so no liquor stores.

A 16 y o can drink everything below the alcohol percentage of 15%. When you're 18 or above you can drink anything

I read somewhere that you can drink beer and wine from age 16 and spirits from age 18... , someone might know better.
