If they contribute to their families they contribute to society. I mean, what is society except families or the remnants of them?
What's good about society is mostly the result of good upbringings, and what's lousy about it is mostly the result of of lousy ones.

This is a very interesting question to me.
I really feel that homemakers INDIRECTLY contribute to society. When you choose to stay home and raise a family, you are giving all of your love and teaching responsibility and good values for the most part. Therefore, your children grow up virtually wholesome, and can give wholesomeness to society.

Do homemakers contribute to society? You bet they do! That is, if you consider raising the next generation to be important. Women(and men) that stay home are the ones that are sacrificing for the betterment of their children, and as a result, of society as a whole. They are usually the ones that do the most volunteering at their children's school, in(or at) their children's activities, and in their community. If you are working full time, you simply do not have the time to devote to your kids and to your community at large.

Homemakers contribute to society by the things they do for their family. The values they establish in their children, the type of adults their children become. Whether they grow up honest, hard working, healthy, clean, the list goes on. Give your question some good hard thought. Wouldn't you say your mom gave many of your qualities to you and your outlook is based on things you learned growing up?

There is no greater contribution a person can make to society than raising a well adjusted responsible productive citizen. Children are our future leaders, parents, teachers...
Stay at home mothers often help working mothers by giving their kids rides to sports and other activities. They are often volunteers for Girls and Boys Scouts and other youth groups. They are often very active in church, PTO and school volunteers since working Mom's can't be.
Don't assume every working Mom's job is rewarding or a wonderful contribution to society.

Haven't you ever notice that most lower and working class houses are not as nice on the outside as middle class or higher class homes
