You could wind up with cervical cancer and not know it. You could have a nasty infection and not now it. Pap smears are the best way to dectect possible cervical cancer in the early or precancerous stages or if it has already turned to cancer. The test doesn't hurt so why wouldn't you get it done every year? It hurts worse when they draw blood that it does to get the pap done.

Nothing happens if you don't get a pap test.
You only risk detecting an illness too late to fix.

You could get infections, cervical cancer or maybe other illnesses as well. The test is quick, the doctor keeps talking to you through the whole thing, so it's not so bad.
