I've had a few bouts of severe vomiting/diahrea/abdominal pain over the last couple weeks and a general 'just don't feel good' feeling. Not bad enough to go to the ER, but very close. I just found out about the recall and sure enough my jar is included (I'm in TN) and I've eaten PB from it coinciding with the time frame for salmonella to kick in (12-72 hours from eating) I'm @ 33 weeks pregnant now. Yes I'm going to call my doctor, just wondering if anyone else pregnant has had this and what if anything your doc did/said?
Thanks

First, my guess (as someone who is not a medical professional but has had a lot of training in salmonella bacteria, as well as other foodborne bacteria) is that you and your baby will both be fine. But do see your doctor. I got the info below from the March of Dimes website. Keep in mind that it says "occasionally" and "less frequently".

"Salmonellosis is a food-borne infection caused by the bacteria Salmonella. Symptoms include diarrhea, nausea, fever and abdominal cramps that last for several days. Occasionally a pregnant woman passes the infection to her baby. After birth, the infant may develop diarrhea, fever and, less often, meningitis. Meningitis is an infection of the membranes surrounding the brain."

Man, i've been eating on it, too, and have had a general "I don't feel good" feeling for a couple of weeks. The Peter Pan jars with the 2111 on the lids are the ones that you need to be concerned about (or the Wal Mart brand, Great Value).

I just tossed what peanut butter we had left, and probably won't be eating much for the next couple of days as I had a PB&J sandwich before I read about the peanut butter recall. Lucky me. I'm also 26 weeks pregnant right now. If I feel crappy tomorrow or on Monday, I'll call my doc. Don't stress yourself out though.

I too realized that I had been eating peanut butter from a contaminated jar. My 15 month son tested positive for salmonella today and now I am concerned about myself because I am currently 11 weeks pregnant. His doctor told me that as long as the diarrhea symptoms have stopped in me, I shouldn't worry about the pregnancy. I don't know how confident I am with that, but I have my first prenatal appointment on Thursday. Have you found anything else out in regards to your pregnancy and the risks of salmonella?

I'm 15 weeks pregnant. I also ate some Peter Pan peanut butter. I didn't have any symptoms of Salmonella. I did freak out after I found out. I called my doctor and she said it won't affect the baby, it'll only affect you. The worst thing that can happen to you is a bad case of vomiting or diarrhea for a few days to a week. I hope I helped you out a little.

well, In Virginia a couple ate the peanut better and she was breastfeeding. The child survived, but he was at the brink of death. Your doc should have you under a close medical schedule. He should see you routinely and make sure that the baby is okay

My husband ate a whole jar of it and did not get sick.
Thank god my son didn't eat any.
