what should a person do when there finger gets smashed on the car door and it gets very swollen,you cant really move it,and its all

Put some ice on it immediately. If swelling does'nt go down at all and you still can't move your fingers go to the hospital they could be broken. Hope this helps.

As soon as it happens you should ice it for 20 min on and 5 off for a few hours. If you are in A LOT of pain you should definitely go to the ER. Wrap it up as best you can to keep it straight, but not to tightly.

Well, personally I jump up and down and scream but that probably won;t help you right now. :)
Seriously if it looks that bad go to the E.R. and get it x-rayed to be sure you didn't break it. You also need to have ice on it right now. Twenty minutes on then twenty minutes off.

So long as it isn't bleeding you can apply ice to it and take a pain med. If you think you may be broken something then go to urgent care or ER and get it x-rayed.
