In an inaugural ranking of the world’s richest people 20 years ago, Forbes.com uncovered some 140 billionaires. Just three years ago they found 476. This year the list is a record 793. They’re worth a combined $2.6 trillion, up 18% since last March. Topping the list in 2006 was William Gates III

The wealthiest person in the world in the person who has the fewest wants. It doesn't matter how much money an individual has, no amount of money will satisfy instiable wants or greed. It is not fair to consider a person wealthy if the amount of money they possess is less that the aggregate cost of their desires.
