I found this dress that I like, but it only comes in black. I wore ivory to my junior prom, and I don't want to wear the same color again. I don't want to wear some tacky, shockingly bright tafetta disaster, but I don't want to look like I'm ready for a funeral, either. Do you think black is appropriate for a prom? How could I spice it up so it's less boring, but still sophisticated?

No, black is a good color. Try and find a dress that has silver beads/sequins if you don't want to look too boring.

Nope.....in fact I'm planning on black myself=]

Spice it up with some shiny colorful accessories,or get a dress with embroidery, beads, etc.
