Because there is little room for error. Take for example your years before the age of twenty. Do you wish you could go back to highschool and behave differently? How about college, do you wish maybe you hadn't partied so much? It's too late to repeat that time of your life, it's gone never to be relived again. That's why they say life is short. Once you make those mistakes or choices you can spend the rest of your life thinking about how it could have been different

That comes from the observation that time goes by fast.
Think of how 2 or 3 year olds have a hard time being patient, things take so-o-o long to happen for them. Does it seem like time is as slow to you now that you're older? The older you get, the faster you perceive time passing. Scary, actually, thus the warning.

how is the longest thing you do. when you dead that is forever. life is short when compared to death. find something or somebody you love and you will understand that life is short, very short.
