I'd be fine with it. I don't have the book but I'd be down.

If the guy's really not a reader, I doubt he'll invest his time in this. I'm a 19 year old girl and I wouldn't want it despite the fact that I read a lot. I don't think many guys would like the Chicken Soup books and it seems like I can only imagine 40-year-old women reading it. I'm not saying it's a bad read, I've read the first two for the Teenage Soul books, but I definitely can find better books to read or things to do than read them.

I think it depends on the guy. Does he like to read? If so, why not just go with a book store gift certificate. If this is a last minute thing, just give the book and don't stress it. I think those chicken soup books are unisex anyway. It would state if it was for a specific sex, like,"Chicken Soup for the Women's Soul."

Well, it really depends on the guy. Look at the kinda books he reads and see if it looks like he would enjoy it. Many guys write to Chicken Soup so I don't see why not. I like books, so I'd be fine with it. But if that is all you are getting him expect him to be dissapointed, I think he'd expect something somewhat special for his 16th.

I gave that book to my son when he was 12 and he was unimpressed even THEN (he faked like he liked it, but he was just trying not to hurt my feelings). He never even read more than a few pages. He is 14 now, and we just went through his room to clean it out and donate things he has outgrown. The first book he donated was that one. I don't think a 16 year old would think much more of it than he did. Most 16 year olds think of themselves (even though they aren't really) as young adults. I'd pass if I were you.

Teen or not, the majority of guys shrug off self-help and feel-good books. Maybe he's an exception, but I think he might find it kind of a weak gift.

It would be a good gift-if he likes to read. He's a teen-it's geared for teens. Those books give good, encouraging words and thoughts.
