You got it. A crossover is for example having the cast of Naruto meet the cast of Inu-Yasha, or Goku from Dragon Ball Z meeting Anne Frank. Two (or more) seperate series being used in one story.

Anime crossover is basically when characteres from different animes/mangas appear in the same storyline. The crossover basiaclly means since each anime/manga is a different 'story world' characters from different 'story worlds' cross over into another one and so you have anime/manga characters from separate shows appearing in the same story. It's not a combination of the storyline but a combination of characters. This is probably more prevailent in anime fanfictions since people can just write what they like and mix anime characters. Although this dosen't happen frequently in anime itself, there are a few examples and generally they are comprised of anime characters from different stories that were created by the same creator. For example Tsubasa Chronicles anime mixes characters from most of CLAMP's series into one series (card captor sakura, X, xxxholic etc) another one would be Kyoshiro to Towa Sora which combines characters from Kannazuki no miko, Steel Angel Kurumi, and Magical Nyan Nyan Taruto.

Anime crossover means two anime shows in one story. Examples include: Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z, Naruto and Chobits (wouldn't that be interesting?)

People write about anything in the crossovers, just like they would in normal fanfiction. Also, people write about love between two anime characters between different shows. (Example: Sailor Moon and Goku falling in love.)

Crossover means it's both gender crossing over. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androgynous
So it basically means that the characters are dressing in another gender.
