Use the Pythagorean Theorem. The sum of the square of two sides of a right triangle equals the square of the hypotenuse.

If 25 is the longest side of a right triangle, we can assert that it is the hypotenuse, since the hypotenuse is always the longest side of a right triangle.

So, x^2 + 24^2 = 25^2

Which is simplified to:

x^2 + 576 = 625

Which can be simplified to:

x^2 =49

And solved:

x = 7

So, letter "b", 7 is your answer.

part (b)

this is how the story goes bro.

for a right angle triangle the longest side that is called the 'diagonal' is the H (hypotenuse) and the other 2 are called B (base) and P (perpendicular). now there is no hard and fast rule which 1 is perp... or base. ... when u r dealing with Pythagoras theorem. ok.

now come to the formula.
Mr pythagora stated that

H^2 = P^2 + B^2

since in ur case H (25) is given then we'll find x. shall it b P or B doesnt matter.

now ..

H^2 = P^2 + B^2
25^2 = 24^2 + x^2
x^2 = 252 - 24^2
x^2 = 625 - 576
x^2 = 49

taking root on Both sides gives us

x = 7

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

25 is the longest side, so it is the hypotenue

a^2 + 24^2 = 25^2
a^2 = 576 = 652
a^2 = 49
a= 7

B.
