Hi there. I just purchased a pair of albino guppies 2 weeks ago (a male and a female and noticed small pink-orange little balls inside the belly of the female guppy, but now her belly looks darker, and slightly bigger. Why is this? Is she pregnant? Are the fry dead (hence the dark color)? is it just a huge dropping? Thanx, any help will be appreciated.

Wow, good thing I already placed her in a breeding net. The male bothered her too much... sniffing her tail and whatnot.

The dark spot is her gravid spot, and yes she sounds pregnant. If you would like to keep the babies, then once they are born (guppies are live-bearing fish), you will need to separate them from mommy and daddy. If you're tank is big enough, you can buy the plexi-glass separating device that blocks one side of the tank from the other. Or, you can get a smaller temporary tank until the fry become large enough to reunite with the parents.

If you would like to keep some and not all of them, then you may want to just watch what happens naturally. Most of the babies will be eaten by their parents, but if you make sure you have plenty of plants and other things for them to hide in, you may have some survivors. Also, if you keep the parent guppies well-fed, they may have less of a desire to eat their young.

Good luck!

Sounds like a preggie guppy. Gubbies give live birth, i know very odd. If you don't wanna keep the babies than continue as normal. The other fish will most likely eat the babies. But if you want to keep the babies than buy an incubator, which is sold at your LFS (local fish store) They are inexpensive and float at the top of the tank. Also make sure that you lots of plants for the babies to hide in. But yes she does sound pregnate. If you have any questions email me:) btpartyitup@yahoo.com

most likely she is. once she drops they baby's you have to get them out into a separate tank or they'll be eaten. Also the guppy is one of the few fish that can reproduce on her own. (no male fish necessary)

When the area below the tail is very dark, it will get bigger she is having babies. Live babies, not eggs.

of direction you feed her, until eventually you prefer to starve her to dying you will see whether, that she would be able to the two eat much less or no longer something in basic terms until eventually now she provides beginning nonetheless desire that enables solid success EB
