Yup! I'm american and my fiance lives in Denmark and his entire family speaks english with the exception of his father (who is 64 and wasn't taught english in school). Luckily most people if they're age 50 or less can speak english. My fiance can speak english better than some americans I know and it's his 4th language.

I recall reading in the Worldbook Encyclopedia a couple of years ago that "practically all Danish adults speak some English." But to be polite, you might ask "do you speak English?" before assuming that the person speaks English. I have heard that near the border with Germany, many of the ppl also speak German.
