I have a RWD 99 Ford Mustang. Once you get the car moving it rides ok. But when you have to stop at a traffic light or stop sign during a big storm, you hold your breath when you step on the gas. Your either going to have your rear slide one way or the other, or you might not move at all.

i've had various cars and all have handled well in snow. ice is always another story. a lot of people think that a 4wd will handle ice.
i find that a front wheel drive car -- will work well in the snow. I have a hyundai sonata which does really well.
right now i also have a ford 4wd escape that does really well in the snow -- it kicks in to 4w if the tires start spinning. i like that function that it kicks in when needed -- i also have the option of putting in 4wd as well.
the best vehicle i ever had in the snow was a diesel chevy blazer -- it was a tank and handled well due to its weight and size.
i also had a camaro that amazingly did well in the snow when the tires were fairly new. it was real wheel drive and i heard horror stories over real wheel vehicles in the snow -- but it did well.
i think part of the reasons i have had good luck with vehicles inthe snow is because i drive cautiously, i know what my vehicle can handle and not expecting too much out of it in hazardous conditions.

Don't have a car right now.
4x4 Ford Ranger pickup. Well, got it especially for the bad weather. Only had to use 4 wheel drive a couple of times so far this winter.

I have a 1997 Mercury Cougar and it has rear wheel drive and IT SUCKS getting around in the snow!!! Or on slush or ice!! I have my son's weights from his weightlifing equip. in the trunk and a 10 bag of sand and If I could find the large concrete stones for landscaping that are in my yard I would add a few of those also but they are buried under all the snow!!

My '92 Honda Accord does better than I expected. I've successfully maneuvered through horrible parking spaces on Chicago's unplowed side streets and never had to push or shovel. For a car not advertised for that kind of thing it does remarkably well.

Don't laugh but I moved to up state NY about a year ago from the west coast. I flew up and had my 1990 XJS V12 jaguar shipped up here. I reluctantly sold it for obvious reasons. Now I drive a piece of s**t. but it handles the snow.
