I'm not sure if It's Harry that dies, but two of them do. It was on the news, and they set up a counselling service for distressed youngsters who were disturbed by it.

He's lying through his teeth. Even if he DOES work with a publishing company, I highly doubt they let him know the happenings of the final installment. Unless he's a editor, I doubt he's even seen the transcript and even then, they have a STRICT privacy policy. Especially in as a big an author as J.K. Rowling. I'm not saying that he's WRONG in his answer (I mean, really, you never know. Killing off Harry would actually be the thing I would do if I was JKR), I'm just say he's not a credible source. Only Rowling is reliable (until the book has been released and you've read it) on what really happens in Deathly Hallows.

Why did he ruin the book for you? Everyone 'knew' that someone was going to die in the last Harry Potter book and it doesn't matter who it is if you enjoy reading. It just makes you think about how the ending fitted in with the entire series. If someone told you how a movie turned out before you saw it, I can see how you would be upset, but a book is something that everyone enjoys and no matter what others tell us it still is a good read.
And in the February issue of Realms of Fantasy magazine and in the same months Sci-Fi magazine Daniel Radcliffe in an interview stated that he was glas that J.K. Rowling killied Harry off in the last book because he didn't want to make a career of Harry. He wants to go on to other things and not be regarded as Harry Potter for the rest of his life. I can sympathize with him, but not someone who whines that someone else ruined the book by telling you that Harry dies. So what, read the book and enjoy it for what it is, the end of a series and a damned good read.

It's just a rumour and I bet that your friend probably doesn't know what he's talking about. There will definitely be two characters that die in the book, Rowling has released that much information so far. She said that she didn't want any other author sequels written for the series. That doesn't mean she'll kill Harry though. Think about it. In the first book Voldemort was "dead" but he managed to come back. So, in theory, if JK killed Harry he could be "dead" but someone else could bring him back to life in another story. Tell your friend to shut up because I'm guessing if he really did know, he could get fired for saying something like that.

This book as the previous several have been so closely guarded and they are still in editing that unless you friend is an editor which means he could lose his job for telling you this I agree that he does not know for certain. We can expect that characters will die. They are at the heart of a war between good and evil. The last book ended with a funeral there will be more of that I am sure. JK is not telling and I am sure everyone who is in the know is not allowed to tell.
Tell your friend to stick it up his jumper or you will have to tell the publishing company that he is telling trade secrets.

He's full of it. The only people who know what happens in the final book are JKR, her family, the artists who do the chapters (Mary Grandpre etc), and her personal publicist.

HP could die in the end. That's really a 50/50 chance.

Duff up your friend for me.

Well your friend cannot knwo for sure unless she is J.K. Rowling. But I believe there is an extreemly high possibility that Harry does die in the final book.
It has been officially said that at least 2 characters will die, but who they are, we will only know when we get to read it.

Tons of people are convinced he's going to die, while others are positive he'll survive. I don't really care if he dies or not- after all, there aren't going to be any more HP books, anyway. And even if you know now that he is going to die, that shouldn't ruin the book for you- the ending isn't really all that important (to me, anyway); the book itself is. If he lives, it will be a happy, joyous, hooray ending. If not, it'll be a wonderfully dramatic and tragic ending. Either way, it will be great!

How many "children's books" kill off the main character, anyway? I wouldn't be worried if I were you. I highly doubt he dies. You'll find out for yourself in July when the book comes out.

theres a possibility he's correct. why wuld rowling leave voldemort alive in her last book? it doesn't make sense, we've always been seeing harry as a victor, despite snape killing dumbledore on voldemort's behlf. why wuld she leave voldemort living when we all see that she supports harry? additionally, if voldemort dies, harry must die, according to the prophecy trelawney made around voldy's downfall around harry's birth /snape's hiring. i think that prophecy will come tru b/c voldy set the stage for the prophecy to come true in the golbet of fire and around harry birth. therefore, voldy dies and harry dies as well. one can't live if the other is dead. if that's the case, harry may have voldy as a horcrux for himself. so both of them are each other's horcruxes. so part of each of them dies, thus, they both die.

probably to show off claiming htings he/she doesnt know about. it would be impossible for anyone...but rowling...to know how the series ends right now. the book is not put into stores until july 21 so it doesnt matter where your friend works. its impossible for him/her to have read it...unless they're rowling incarnate...

harry dies. harry lives. who knows right now but rowling...?
