Okay, look at the blades on the fan first. They ALL tilt one way, right? Okay then. In the SUMMER-TIME, you want the edge of the blades that are pointed towards the ceiling(think of a shaving razor here) turning AWAY FROM the ceiling. This gets all the cool air to move around down below where you are at. Go the OPPOSITE way in the winter-time to get the hot air to blow DOWN onto you.

Either direction will help circulate the hotter air from the ceiling to the floor. The key difference is that most fans are in the center of the room, and air flowing downwards where most people are will feel like a draft. So in the winter, I have it rotate so the air is pulled up from the center, across the ceiling and then it flows down across the walls and out into the center of the room to rise again.

It is supposed to pull air up in the winter. For most ceiling fans that would be counter-clockwise. If you set it to blow air down on you, it will make you feel cooler. Instead, have it pull air up in order to circulate the air without the cooling effect.

it is suppose to be i believe counter clockwise - it is suppose to turn the direction to pull air up so it will push heat down from the ceiling

Counter-Clockwise so it pulls warm air up to circulate it through the room.
